Rajon Rondo could be boom or bust for the New Orleans Pelicans

The Chicago Bulls waived Rondo on June 30 after just one season.

The 31-year-old point guard agreed to sign with the New Orleans Pelicans on Saturday, per Shams Charania of The Vertical.

The Pelicans' interest in Rondo, an unrestricted free agent, comes amid potential competition from the New York Knicks and Los Angeles Lakers.

Rondo spent the 2015-16 season in Sacramento playing alongside fellow former Kentucky star Cousins.

Rondo, an 11-year vet, had a tumultuous run with the Bulls last season before suffering a fractured thumb in their first round postseason matchup against the Boston Celtics. After returning with the second unit, Rondo also drew attention for a social-media squabble with teammates Jimmy Butler and Dwyane Wade.

It has been reported that the U.S. has proposed a new draft UNSC resolution for further sanctions on North Korea to China. Those imports all came before February 18, an illustration of how China has enforced sanctions, Huang said.

ESPN's Zach Lowe reports that the Pelicans are meeting with Rajon Rondo on Thursday.

The Bulls found a way to make the playoffs as the eighth seed and were up 2-0 against the Boston Celtics in the first round.

A source said Cousins played a "pivotal" role in Rondo coming to the Pelicans.

The addition of Rondo will give Coach Alvin Gentry the flexibility to play Jrue Holiday more at shooting guard, an effective position for him in the past.

Despite his bumpy 2016-17 season, Rondo remains one of only three players to average at least six assists the past nine seasons. Chicago Bulls?in which he averaged 7.8 points and 6.7 assists - well below his career averages of 10.7 points and 8.5 assists per game.
