Josh Jackson cancels workout with Celtics

While conventional wisdom has pointed to the Los Angeles Lakers drafting local star Lonzo Ball, the franchise is exploring other options for the No. 2 pick.

Kansas swingman Josh Jackson is widely expected to be a top-five selection in the 2017 NBA Draft.

Jackson had a private workout on Tuesday at the Lakers' practice facility, but that doesn't mean the team is any closer to finalizing its plans.

For better and for worse, the Lakers are mindful of not overreacting to individual workouts considering the various restrictions. They can also dangle their draft capital to see which team would not mind moving back a couple of spots.

It's not as if Jackson is in Lonzo Ball's overpriced Big Baller Brand shoes, with his father appearing on every sports-based argument show that will have him, claiming the Lakers are the best fit.

"So I just try to go in and prove the things people don't think I can do".

Bill Maher apologizes on air: Racial slur 'has caused pain'
He then asked, "What made you think it was cool to say that?" He seemed to speak from the heart at the top of the show. He noted that he has a history of challenging the orthodoxy on the right and the left. "Well, against racists.

The 20-year old has recently conducted a few workouts with a number of the teams holding the top picks in the draft. But the NBA's structure sets such organizations up with high lottery odds, enabling them to stockpile young, talented players. If the Lakers want to trade down and still land Lonzo Ball (or someone else), the best way would be to get a trade to move up to take the player they covet, like Jackson.

Both are nearly certain to be available when the Lakers are on the clock, but management apparently wants to see what top prospect Fultz has to offer as well.

The signs keep pointing to the Lakers passing on Lonzo Ball with the No. 2 pick in the draft.

"My outlook is it was already written", Smith Jr. said on his draft stock. It was just something I had to do and I learned from the mistake that I made. Fox didn't just hold his own; he owned Ball that night by scoring 39 points and most important, getting the Wildcats the victory. "I'm one of the guys I'll do whatever I have to do to help my team win, whether that's playing defense, dive on the floor for loose balls, rebound or score, whatever I have to do to win, I'll do it".

"I'm going to have to perform in games", Fox said.
