Hillary Clinton blames herself - and misogyny, FBI and Russia - for defeat

"I take absolute personal responsibility", Clinton told CNN's Christiane Amanpour during a Women For Women International charity luncheon in NY.

"It wasn't a flawless campaign, there is no such thing, but I was on the way to winning until a combination of Jim Comey's letter", she said.

She cited the Federal Bureau of Investigation director's letter to Congress resurrecting questions about her email practices and WikiLeaks' repeated release of her campaign's internal emails that "scared off" people. The event also included many of her former aids and was to benefit female survivors of war around the world.

Clinton, who said she is going through the "painful process" of writing a book dealing in part with the election, also said misogyny played a role in her defeat. There's still some real resentment that was apparent and I'm sure a lot of her critics will slam her for not talking more about how she didn't visit MI or Wisconsin and what have you.

"The evidence for that intervening event is, I think, compelling, persuasive", Clinton said of the resulting effects on the outcome of the election.

But Clinton also said a recent legislative trend could help. "I was the person who was on the ballot".

Senate confirms Trump's agriculture secretary
Since exports are a major source of USA farm income, producers are looking to Perdue to advocate for their needs in trade talks. Washington , D.C. -"The Senate has confirmed former Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue as Secretary of Agriculture ".

"On equal pay, a number of cities and states have said, 'You know, one of the problems about equal pay is when you hire people, you say, "What was your last pay?"' So if you're a young woman and you've been underpaid before and you say what your pay is, then a slight bump looks fair, but it's not because you've got built-in inequity", Clinton said.

"It is real. It is very much a part of the landscape politically and socially and economically", she added.

"It wasn't a flawless campaign - there is no such thing".

Clinton pointed to the release of an old video tape on Oct 7 on which Trump is heard crudely discussing groping women, and how "within an hour or two" of the tapes release, the Russian theft of Clinton staffers' e-mails were made public on WikiLeaks. "Did I make mistakes?"

Clinton said jets were moved off the runway prior to the strike. Oh course we did. "What a coincidence. So, I mean, you just can't make this stuff up". Oh my gosh, yes.

Since the November election, Trump has repeatedly claimed without any evidence that the only reason Clinton won the popular vote by almost 3 million votes is because of people voting illegally. Mrs Clinton said she was "on the way to winning" until a combination of events in the final days. "You know, you'll read my confession and my request for absolution". "Talking about Clinton's numerous attacks against Trump during the interview, Keilar laughed, "[She was] downright trolling him, I think!"
