Colorado lawmakers approve pot for PTSD, with new limits

Illicit pot use increased significantly more in states that passed medical marijuana laws compared to other states, researchers found in comparing three national surveys conducted between 1991 and 2013.

States that adopted medical marijuana laws had a 1.43 percentage point increase in illicit cannabis use and a 0.66 percentage point increase in cannabis use disorder between 1991 and 2013, compared to states that didn't enact those laws. "However, changing state laws (medical and recreational) may also have adverse public health consequences".

Then, he said, officials could weigh the health benefits of medical marijuana to people like cancer patients who need the medication against the risks of increased use among the general population. Among these bills are measures that would allow people previously convicted of possessing under 1 ounce of marijuana to have their records vacated and sealed, prevent employers from discriminating against cannabis users, and allow for hemp growth and production in the state.

As of November 2016, a total of 28 states have passed medical marijuana laws, according to the study, published today (April 26) in the journal JAMA Psychiatry.

The researchers analyzed data from 118,497 adults included in three national surveys: the 1991-1992 National Longitudinal Alcohol Epidemiologic Survey, the 2001-2002 National Epidemiologic Survey on Alcohol and Related Conditions, and the 2012-2013 National Epidemiologic Survey on Alcohol and Related Conditions-III.

The researchers analyzed responses to national surveys from almost 120,000 adults from 39 states.

Medical marijuana use is now legal in 29 states and Washington D.C.

Twitter is gaining more users, losing less money
Twitter Chief operating officer, Anthony Noto, said that there is a remarkable growth due to the Trump phenomenon in Twitter . Analysts were lukewarm on Twitter's prospects heading into the quarterly results, underlining significant revenue headwinds.

The researchers defined illegal use as any use of marijuana that didn't conform with the laws within the respondents' state.

It also includes research published in January that concluded there was no relationship between adolescent use of marijuana and state laws legalizing the drug's use for adults.

Federal drug enforcement policy regarding the manufacture, importation, possession, use and distribution of marijuana should be applied consistently across the nation to maintain respect for the rule of law.
The 2011 study suggests more research.

"Patients in most states are allowed to access medical cannabis when their physicians feel it is medically indicated".

NY recently expanded its medical marijuana program by adding chronic pain, but there is an important group of patients who are still left out - those who suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). This leaves tourists with nowhere to consume the plant and given the fact Nevada hosts one of the country's favorite tourist destinations, Las Vegas, it is wise to think about this accommodation. Thus, identifying factors underlying increased adult illicit use is important.

In 1991, no Americans lived in states with medical marijuana, but by 2012, more than one-third lived in states that had accepted medical pot. Texas could learn about the impact on state budgets as far as regulation, and how states dealt with any potential problems with legal medical marijuana.
