If at first you don't succeed, at least in the case of Honda, you try again.
Kicking off the 2017 Detroit Auto Show this morning, the electric Chevrolet Bolt was named 2017 North American Car of the Year.
"Conventional pickup trucks have gotten more refined with each generation, but they don't come close to the quiet comfort of the Ridgeline", Joe Wiesendfelder of Cars.com said to the Detroit Free Press. It is the second consecutive year for Honda to earn a top honor, with the Honda Civic winning North American Car of the Year honors in 2016.
In accepting the award, John Mendel, executive vice president of American Honda Motor Co. "It's nice to get to get this sort of recognition going up against some very tough competition".
Honda's Ridgeline took the top honor as Truck of the Year, beating out Ford's F-Series Super Duty and the Nissan Titan.
But it's the other two categories where green cars had a major shot at taking home a trophy.
The Bolt was up against the Genesis G90 and the Volvo S90 for vehicle of the year.

Hopkins did not give an estimated release date for Hulu's live TV service, but more information is expected soon. There are already several live TV services available, including Sling TV, PlayStation Vue, and DirecTV Now.

Last year the Honda Civic and Volvo XC90 were named auto and truck of the year, respectively.
The three finalists in each category were chosen from a list of 15 cars, 11 utilities and four pickups in November.

"Despite so many alternatives that have come to market over the past 20 years", said Tim Kuniskis, who heads the auto brands at Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, "there is no better alternative for a family than the minivan".
The Chrysler Pacifica minivan was named North American Utility of the Year, the first time the award has been distributed.
