In regards to doing the Apple Music series sans Corden, EP Eric R. Pankowski said: "It was a pretty quick decision".
"We love music, and Carpool Karaoke celebrates it in a fun and unique way that is a hit with audiences of all ages".

Apple's streaming service Apple Music is getting into the original video game and Carpool Karaoke is its first crack at it. Corden said in the roughly 300 episodes of the late night show, about 23 have featured carpool karaoke segments.
The CBS version has primarily focused on musical guests with Corden behind the wheel, while celebrity interviews have been saved for other segments of The Late Late Show. "But we personally, here at this show, we owe him so much". Says host James Corden: "I'm still going to see my kid on the weekends. This just became a wonderful platform to see these people in a such an intimate environment", he said, according to Deadline. "There's something about the intimacy of a auto", joked Winston. The biggest distinction is that the spinoff will function as more of an "interview series", and each episode will be 30 minutes in length.
